Faults we fix
Most vacuum problems come down to a blockage, a worn belt or a tired motor. Here’s what we see most.
- Lost suction
- Usually a blocked hose or wand, clogged filters or a full bag or bin.Worth checking first: Empty the bin, wash or replace the filters (let them dry fully) and check the hose for blockages by dropping a coin through it.
- Brush bar not spinning
- A snapped or stretched belt, hair wrapped round the bar, or a failed brush bar motor on newer models.
- Split or blocked hose
- Hoses crack with age and lose suction. We can fit a replacement.
- Motor or burning smell
- A motor that’s straining, cutting out or smelling hot. Switch it off and bring it in.
- Cable and switches
- Damaged cables, faulty switches and cable rewinds that won’t wind back.
- Bags, belts and filters
- We stock bags, belts and filters for most vacuums, so we can often sort it there and then.
